Who was voted off The X Factor big band night results show? Abi Alton

This week saw the return of Big Band week on the X Factor, and tonight the remaining contestants waited patiently to see who would survive to sing again next week and who would be going home.

After guest performances from Celine Dion and Robbie Williams, Dermot revealed the results and who would have to sing for survival.

Sam Callahan and Abi Alton had been tipped as the bookies’ favourites to leave all day, though both were busy on Twitter whipping up support in the hopes they would win at least another week in the competition.

However, when the results were announced, it was Abi Alton and Hannah Barrett that found themselves in the bottom two sing off.

The pair performed again for the judges, with Abi singing Ed Sheeran hit Lego House while Hannah sung Miley Cyrus track Wrecking Ball.

At the vote Nicole refused to cast her vote: “They’re both so special and unique so I abstain,” she said.

Gary Barlow said he was “confused” as to how the girls were in the bottom two, but went on: “Abi you touched me tonight, it was incredible. Hannah, it’s your second time in the bottom two but you are brilliant just the way you are. The act I’m sending home is Abi.”

Sharon Osbourne said: “It’s so frustrating Abi, you now show us our passion, you are a talented singer songwriter but I haven’t seen it since the auditions. Hannah, you know I love you… I’m going to have to say this, but I’m going to send Abi home.”

So with two votes against her, Abi Alton was sent home.
