Tom Mann took to The X Factor stage at his audition to try and wow the judges for a place in the next round of the competition, but he ended up splitting the panel after his performance.
Before auditioning the 19 year old football coach admitted that he couldn’t afford to fail, telling Dermot O’Leary:
“I’m a part time football coach. Today is important because I do want to be a role model for the kids and show the kids that they can chase their dream. Also, if I don’t get through when I walk out I am going to get ribbed, my whole life…not even for the week. I will get ripped.”
He went on to sing Passenger’s ‘Only Know’ while accompanying himself on guitar.
Gary enjoyed it Mann’s rendition but Nicole had some reservations and said:
“I don’t know how much you’re going to stand out if you get to the next stage of this audition in front of 4,000 people.”
However, she added:
“There is just something about you that I like.”
Gary insisted:
“The potential is all there and I am quite excited about you as a solo artist.”
Four yeses later and Tom had won himself a further audition at London’s Wembley arena.
