2011: X Factor ratings slide for week 2 live shows

x factor ratingsThe rating for this seasons X Factor started positively given all the changes that were made this year.

However, last night’s show was not good news for ITV bosses as the show suffered yet another dip in ratings this year.

The audition episodes held their own and at times, attracted even more viewers than last year’s episodes, however last night figures fell to a low of 9.8 million at one point of the ‘Love and Heartbreak’ themed show.

It meant that less than a million more people tuned into watch The X Factor, than watched Strictly Come Dancing on the BBC – a fact that will not go unnoticed by ITV bosses.

While the X Factor looked to have stumbled, Strictly on the other hand is bringing in record ratings this year, as people seem excited about this year’s line-up.

Average ratings for last night’s X Factor instalment were 11.4 million – 2 million below the second live show got last year.

Last week, the first live episode of the 2011 series fell to a three-year ratings low with an average audience of 10.4 million viewers on ITV1 last Saturday. That figure was nearly 2 million viewers down on the 12.2 million who tuned in for the first live show in 2010.

Simon Cowell will also be even more concerned because the American equivalent is not doing as well as expected either.
