Shelley Smith is hoping she will never have to drive a white van again to earn a living having jumped on The X Factor bandwagon. But the bad news for her is that she is tipped as one of the favourites to leave the show tomorrow night.
Shelley is one of the three ladies in the Overs category this year mentored by Sharon Osbourne. Earlier this week it was revealed that Sharon’s close friend and music legend Sir Elton John, gave his backing to Sam and the two other ladies – Lorna Simpson and Sam Bailey – in the competition this year.
Tonight singing ‘Alone’, Shelley showed that whatever the results tomorrow evening, she has got a marvellous singing voice.
This is what the judges had to say about Shelley’s performance:
NICOLE SCHERZINGER: “Miss Shelley, you know what, you have made a total transformation. Mrs O has made a miracle. You stripped it all back and stood there strong and still in your own power and I am jealous of the Cher lift.”
LOUIS WALSH: “Hey Shelley you gave it welly! You are a great belter and you really took off with the performance. It was cheesy but it was good cheese.”
GARY BARLOW: “You are a character and this competition needs characters, although we are in the 80s week and everyone is doing a modern twist in the 80s and I felt you were stuck in the 80s. We have to find a way to modernise your voice. I am sorry.”
