The X Factor judge and Take That front man, will jet off for the front-line in the war torn country to film a documentary about his trip, during which he’ll meet with UK armed forces personnel who are stationed at Camp Bastion in the notorious Helmand Province.

An X Factor insider told the Daily Star Sunday about Gary’s plan to head out to the military hotspot in November, remarking, “Although The X Factor is a big commitment, Gary has some free time between now and the live shows.”

The paper adds, “ITV cameras will follow Gary’s visit, and his trip will be shown during an hour-long documentary.”

Gary, 42, who was last year given an OBE for his charity work, may well be on course for a knighthood if he continue with this type of activity.

Earlier this year Simon Cowell was also looking to venture into Afghanistan with his Got Talent brand. However, it looks as though the security services could not find a big enough bullet prove vest to fit his ego.
