2011: X Factor Finalist to Duet with mentors – good idea or bad?

x factor 2011 duest

For a long time now on the finals of the X Factor, contestants have performed duets with world renowned artists, none more so that lives in the memory than Alexandra Burke dueting with Beyonce in 2008.

This year however, the contests have to settle with dueting with their mentors. On one hand it is a good idea, but on the other we can’t help but ask the question; Are the contestants and audience being cheated?

We raise the question with no disrespect to the judges who are all established artist in their own right, but we see them on our screens every weekend, so we feel the final  is a chance to bring artist and acts that we don’t often get to see on The X Factor – like Cliff Richard for instance.

On top of everything else, the judges run the risk of being upstage by their mentee, which the press would have a field day with, and it might end up tarnishing their image.

So, what we have to look forward to this weekend is:

Amelia Lily singing with Kelly Rowland – Alemia said: “She’s someone I really admire, who is special to me, she’s really talented.”

Marcus Collins will be singing with Gary Barlow, with the Take That star revealing the pair would be singing Billy Joel hit She’s Always A Woman.

Little Mix will be singing with Tulisa, with the N-Dubz star confessing she was more nervous than the girls.
