After performances by Kelly Clarkson, Bruno Mars and Professor Green, Dermot O’Leary revealed that Marcus was the first act through to week four and he looked elated with the news. This is in contrast to last week when waiting for the news we saw him become very emotional.
Collins was quickly followed by Misha B, who must have been relieved after facing accusations of bullying from Tulisa and Louis Walsh last night.
The other person that must have been mighty relieved to hear his name called to go through, is Frankie Cocozza. He jumped for joy and hugged his mentor Gary Barlow.
However, the two acts that finished in the bottom two tonight were Kitty Brucknell and Sami Brookes.
Louis Walsh looked devastated at the prospect of having to choose between his two acts.
In the sing-off, Sam opted to sing ‘Natural Woman’ by Aretha Franklin as her save me song, while Kitty opted to sing Edge Of Glory by Lady Gaga.
Both women did a pretty good job with their performance. This is what the judges had to say:
JUDGES VOTES:
Gary Barlow: Can I first say what a sing off tonight! Both acts, unbelievable. This is tough, Sami that voice is undeniable but I have always found you a little bit dated. Kitty I am a big fan of yours and I’m excited by you….I am sending home Sami.
Kelly Roland: You both are so talented, so whether it is here at X factor or anywhere else you both can sing and make people completely look at you when you sing. Sami I absolutely adore you, Kitty you are a wonderful entertainer but the person I am sending home tonight is Sami.
Tulisa Contostavlos: Two amazing performers, artists, voices but I’ve got to go with my heart so the act that I am sending home tonight is Kitty.
Louis Walsh: I love both girls, Kitty I love your work ethic but you’re not connecting with the public. Sami in the sing off you were incredible, I don’t knwo why I have two acts in the bottom two….do I go with my head or my heart I don’t know. I’m not going to cop out, I’ll go with my heart and the person I have to send home tonight is Sami. |

With three votes to one, Sami found herself voted off The X Factor.
Afterwards she told Dermot O’Leary:
“This experience has just been amazing, I may not be able to sell a million albums as Gary said, but I am going to sing for the rest of my life. Thank you so much for this opportunity.”
Louis added:
“I am disappointed, I don’t want to lose anybody and we’ve become really good friends.”
