It’s been announced that the X Factor charity single this season to be recorded by the final 16 contestants, will be a cover of ‘Wishing On A Star’, with proceeds raised being donated to ACT & Children’s Hospices UK.
Simon Cowell said about the X Factor version of the Rose Royce’s 1978 single: “I’ve seen the amazing work they do for kids and their families who need help and support.
“I am thrilled that the X Factor charity single this year will benefit this charity.”
The song will be released on November 19 and feature all of this year’s finalists.
Finalist Frankie Cocozza said it was a “brilliant thing to be doing for a brilliant charity”.
Kooky Kitty Brucknell added: “It’s incredible to be able to give something back and hopefully help a lot of people.”
Charity spokeswoman Barbara Gelb said: “The money raised from this single gives us the opportunity to improve the lives of these children and families.
“Every single bought, either online or through the High Street, will make such a difference.”
The song will be performed by the finalists during the live shows later this year.
