Sam Callahan Summer of 69 X Factor 2013 first live show

Sam Callahan takes to The X Factor stage on the first live show of the series with something to prove.

The 19-year-old singer has been constantly told he has not got the best voice in the competition, but he is hoping to make up for that by giving the audience and judges a performance to remember singing ‘Summer Of 69’ by Bryan Adams.

Sam is one of the three boys in the boys category mentored by Louis Walsh this year.

Louis is clearly worried about the teenager going the distance on the show after telling Metro news that he’ll get Sam to take his top off in a bid to keep him in the competition.

He said: “In a week or two I’ll get him to take his top off.”

And Sam’s seems up it and admitted: “If it gets votes I’d be up for it.”

Getting his top off his nothing for Sam, he has already skinny dipped in his local park to raise money for charity.

Tonight Sam really did put on quit a show. There was plenty of interacting with the audience, playing to the young females and even a sneaky kiss with a backing dancer. We are fully behind this young man but his vocals still needs a but more grooming for a live performances for us, but he could really grow on this show if he gets the votes.

This is what the judges made of his performance:

LOUIS WALSH: You are a dream to mentor, you work so hard. You are like a little Bryan Adams. I think you are in for the long haul because the girls love you.

GARY BARLOW: You are a good looking guy, all the girls love you but it’s going to come down at some point to vocals and tonight the vocals are quite poor. There is work to do here. You have got to come out and deliver.

NICOLE SCHERZINGER: Gary is right, it comes down to vocals…you are not the strongest in the competition but do you know what you have my love? You have determination. I see the eye of the tiger in you while you are up there.

SHARON OSBOURNE: Sam you have got the whole package for me. You have such likeability, you are a great performer. You have the full package and I love you.
