Farmer Asda employee and X Factor 2012 star Jahmene Douglas has landed his first Job since leaving The X Factor fronting his former employer’s ad campaign for Christmas.
The 21-year-old, finished the ITV show as runner-up to James Arthur in this year’s series, and received lots of support from employees and customers of the supermarket chain during his period on The X Factor. He has now performed ‘Silent Night’ for the supermarket chain’s festive campaign as a thank you to all the people who supported him.
Jahmane said entering the X Factor competition was the best thing he has ever done because it has changed his life which means that ASDA will now have a vacancy for a Shelf Stacker in his local store.
The supermarket chain will benefit hugely from having Jahmane featured in its ad campaign, but it also benefited as a result of the publicity it received on the ITV show over the past four month while Jahmane appeared on the show.
To show its appreciation of what the singer has done for the company, ASDA renamed a Chinese takeaway dish from ‘Chicken Charmaine’ to Chicken Jahmane’ and made a donation of £10,000 Women’s Aid a charity working to end domestic violence against women and children. The donation was made after a newspaper reported the story of how Jahmene and his mother suffered at the hands of his father.
We think the supermarket has done the right thing by Jahmane but it would have been good to see him in the advert itself.
