20-year-old Derry Mensah only had one thing on his mind at his X Factor audition, and it had nothing to do with singing, but all to do with seducing Judge Kelly Roland.
The Cheeky Burger King worker from Croydon was more than a little flirty with the Destiny’s Child star as he auditions at the O2 Arena in London.
Before taking to the stage he said:“I’m making sure Kelly Rowland wants to hug me, Kelly Rowland is my ultimate woman, she’s beautiful, everything about her is beautiful, when someone says her name, I just get love struck.
“Every single day I dream about being a big superstar or walking the red carpet with Kelly Rowland, I want Kelly Rowland to marry me. I’m singing on my knees for Kelly Rowland. ”
When he took to the stage he told Kelly:
“Kelly Rowland, straight up, I love you Kelly.” After singing ‘Can You Help Me’ by Usher, Kelly tried to remain professional.
“Alright, let’s get to business,” she told him. “Derry, I really like your voice, but I would like to see you in a group.”
Louis Walsh added: I could see you in a group, like Boys II Men, the UK version of Boys II Men, you’ve definitely got something.
But Tulisa disagreed, arguing: “I like him as a solo artist.”
Gary Barlow said: “Derry, I think you’ve got a great voice, a really great voice. Take that cap off, I want to see your face… There you go! I really enjoyed that audition, well done. ”
