The X Factor 2011: Craig Compton Surprises His Parents at His Audition

Craig Compton surprised his parents when he took to The X Factor stage at the Liverpool auditions.

Compton had previously told his mum and dad that he had tickets to be in the audience for the show, but was too busy at work to attend.

However, he was secretly making his own way to the venue and rehearsing backstage before facing the audience and judges Tulisa Contostavlos, Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland and Louis Walsh.

The 22-year-old tells the panel before singing: “My parents don’t know I am here! I just told them I had tickets but couldn’t go because of work. I even got my mum to iron my uniform for me to make it believable.”

Craig went on to reveal to the panel how he works in Iceland and at a biscuit factory to get by, before performing Hiding My Heart’ by Adele at Liverpool’s Echo Arena.
