Britain's Got Talent Semi Finals

Ed Drewett sings Blink on Tuesday’s semifinals of Britain’s Got Talent 2014

One Direction’s song writer Ed Drewett has had quite a successful career in song writing, after writing best selling hits for two of the biggest boybands in the UK. Now he wants to shine as a solo star in his own right.

25 year-old Ed is one step closer to achieving that dream having made it to the BGT semifinals. However, he needs to go one better and book a place in the final of Britain’s Got Talent if he is to land a lucrative recording deal with Simon Cowell ‘s record company.

Tonight in is bid for that very goal, he sang Blink once more for the panel and received favourable comments once again from the gang of four:

Alesha Dixon: Ed I have a lot of respect for you, because a lot of people in your position would have too much ego for that. That is a massive song and I take my hat off to you.

Amanda Holden: It must have been so frustrating to be behind the scenes. I just said to Simon ‘I can hear that song… I want to download it immediately.’ It’s an incredible song, it tells a story.

Simon Cowell: I know what the girls are saying and I’m happy that you’re here. I would have preferred for you to sing a second song. I think, what I noticed, is that your vocals suffer in your higher range. I wasn’t blown away by the performance.

David Walliams: I was blown away. It was brilliant and it’s tough being a songwriter. I think you have the charisma to be a star.
