But is Mark’s Climb Online digital marketing business idea a winner for Lord Sugar or a massive gamble?

The 24-year-old Australian jewel in the crown and best selling point is that he is setting up a business in a industry that he has worked in for the past two years. There is no doubt that this is one of the major factors why Lord Sugar selected him for the final.

However, as most people know, working in an industry for someone else is not the same as running your own business in that very industry.

Mark’s Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) plans will need to be scrutinized very carefully by Lord Sugar to see what he has uncovered that the thousands of organisations in that industry have not thought about so far.

For us, this would be Lord Sugar’s biggest gamble in the history of the Apprentice series because once an approach in SEO is discovered, it came be easily copied by competitors.

Marks super-salesman approach will also raise clients expectation, and has Bianca hinted at in the boardroom, some digital marketing company fail to deliver on their promises in improving a site ranking in Google. This is largely due to the fact that Google search ranking is not an exact science. The only people who truly knows how to do it properly are Google search algorithm personnel. From time to time they decide to make changes to the algorithm and when they do it can have far reaching implications for many websites ranking position.
