The Big Allotment Challenge sees the first Best in Show awarded while the first couple Shaun and Liz are voted off

The first series of The Big Allotment Challenge kicked off on the BBC tonight with Fern Britton that saw nine contestants put to the test, as they attempt to harvest fruits, vegetables and flowers in this new gardening challenge series.

For each task one team’s produce will be nominated as Best in Show by a judge, and on today’s first episode it was Shirley and Victoria who were nominated for the Radish challenge.

Alex and Ed nominated in the Sweet Peas challenge, Rupert and Lilly for the Hand Tied Bouquet.

And finally, nominated for their delicious Jam, Gary and Pete were nominated for the Eat challenge.

However, one unfortunately team is voted off the show each week and today the first couple to leave the competition was Shaun and Liz.
