Kitty Hope Pear and ginger coins recipe on Sweets Made Simple

Kitty Hope makes pear and ginger coins sweets on Sweets Made Simple with a few simple ingredients.

The duo says: “This simple, old-fashioned treat is an ideal snack to take on a country walk, a visit to the beach or even just a trip to the park.”

The ingredients are: 2 large Conference pears, 1 tbsp golden caster sugar, plus extra to sprinkle and 1 tsp ground ginger.

To make the sweets, line two baking sheets with baking parchment.

Slice the pears really thinly into rounds using a mandolin or a very sharp knife, then lay the pears in a single layer on the baking parchment.

Stir together the sugar and ginger, then sprinkle liberally over each piece. Bake in a preheated oven 110C for three hours, turning over halfway through.

Remove the pear crisps from the oven and let them cool.

Collect the remaining sugar dusting from the baking sheet and add a little extra sugar to suit. Shake the gingery sugar over the pear crisps.
