Britain's Got Talent Semi Finals

Henrietta Adewole sings Stay With Me on the first semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent 2014

Henrietta Adewole took to singing in an attempt to turn her life around after a drunk driver ended her childhood ambition to be an Olympic sprinter in 2007.

At her audition, 18-year-old music student impressed judges David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden with her soulful interpretation of Passenger hit ‘Let Her Go’, but Simon Cowell missed her audition due to the birth of his baby son, Eric.

However, the soul singer faced the music mogul for the first time in tonight’s live Britain’s Got Talent semifinal singing ‘Stay With Me’.

However, Simon Cowell was very supportive with his comments while the ladies on the panel struck a different chord with theirs.

David Walliams: Your voice is world class, it’s so haunting and I want to hear you sing more songs. It’s amazing!

Amanda Holden: There is no voice that you have a strong and powerful voice. I think it’s an acquired taste. There are moments when it’s too much and the tone isn’t something I’d like to continue listening to.

Alesha Dixon: I love your voice, it’s jazzy and bluesy. But to me you look a bit unrecognisable. I don’t feel that song is suited to you. You should look younger and cooler, you look dated and it didn’t work for me.

Simon Cowell: I have to be honest, this is the first act I have seen tonight where I have seen real potential. You are in different league to everything we have seen and heard so far. It was a great song, you sang it well, you have a fantastic voice. I think you’ll do really well tonight.
