Paul Hollywood ciabatta loaf recipe on The Great British Bake Off proves a tough test for the bakers

It is bread week in the Bake Off tent and the remaining contestant must rise to the occasion if they want to survive and return to bake again next week.

Their first task is to bake 12 “perfect” rye bread rolls – but they are left to decide over what shape to make their rolls. Their decision may even put a smile on Paul and Mary’s face if they are creative enough, and may also leave a lasting impression.

However as it is bread week, the technical challenge is set by the master bread baker himself, Paul Hollywood. The contestants must make four Italian ciabatta bread loaves to Paul’s own recipe.

The ingredients for the recipe includes: 400g strong white flour, plus extra for flouring, 7g instant yeast, 300ml water, 30ml olive oil, plus extra for oiling, 7g salt and semolina flour, for flouring.

Finally, the bakers have their work cut out for them in the showstopper challenge, making a filled centrepiece loaf that will make an impact on a table as well as on the judges.
