Bearded drag queen wins Eurovision song contest 2014 for Austria with Rise Like a Phoenix

Bearded drag queen Conchita Wurst, the alter ego of 25-year-old Thomas Neuwirth, won the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 for Austria.

The singer scored a massive 260 points with her song Rise Like a Phoenix.

Collecting her trophy she said: “This night is dedicated to everyone who believes in a future of peace and freedom. You know who you are – we are unity and we are unstoppable.”

The Netherlands finished second with 238 points with Sweden third with 218.
