John Whaite lentil dahl recipe on Steph’s Packed Lunch

John Whaite served up a tasty lentil dahl on Steph’s Packed Lunch.

The ingredients are: 160g red split lentils, 1tsp ground turmeric, 500ml vegetable stock or water,
1tbsp vegetable oil, 50g unsalted butter, 1tsp black mustard seeds, 2tsp cumin seeds, 1tsp nigella seeds, 1 bay leaf, 10 curry leaves (fresh are best, but dried will do), 1 green chilli, finely chopped, 1 small onion, peeled and finely chopped, 4 garlic cloves, peeled and finely chopped, 30g ginger, peeled and finely grated, 1 large plum tomato, roughly chopped and Fine sea salt.

To serve: 1tbsp chopped coriander, to garnish and Rotis or chapatis.
