Paul Hollywood fig rolls recipe on The Great British bake Off 2019

Paul Hollywood showcased his dad’s favourite fig rolls with cinnamon and ginger for this week’s technical challenge on The Great British bake Off 2019.

The ingredients for the biscuit dough are: 175g plain flour, plus extra for dusting, pinch of fine salt, ¼ tsp baking powder, 50g unsalted butter, softened, 40g light muscovado sugar, 1 egg, beaten and ½ tsp vanilla extract.

For the filling: 200g soft dried figs, roughly chopped, 25g light muscovado sugar, 1 tsp ground cinnamon and 1 ball of stem ginger in syrup, drained and very finely chopped.
