The Bikers served up a tasty French dip sandwich with beef and mushroom gravy on The Hairy Bikers’ Comfort Food.
The duo says: “Mustardy beef and mushroom gravy are piled into a baguette in this decadent sandwich. You could also add onions, sliced very finely, to the roasting tin, tucked underneath the meat.”
The ingredients for the beef: 2 tsp sea salt, 1 tsp black peppercorns, ground, 1 tsp dried mustard powder, 1 tsp dried thyme, 2kg piece of sirloin, rolled and 2 tbsp dripping or oil.
For the gravy: 15g butter, 2 shallots, finely chopped, 250g button mushrooms, finely sliced, 1 garlic clove, sliced, 1 large sprig thyme, leaves only, 1 tbsp plain flour, 200ml red or white wine, 500ml beef stock (or consommé) and 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh tarragon.
To serve: couple of large baguettes, butter (or dripping) and mustard or horseradish (optional).
