Owen who ended his football playing career last season and has already embarked a on a new career as a football commentator, but earlier this year it was rumoured that the former football striker was to join this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, but Owen has said that he would prefer to try the jungle than the dance floor.

“If I was ever going to do one it would be the jungle but I would need to be offered a few quid to do it, that’s for sure,” he told the Daily Star.

He continued: “People think I’m a saint so they would be in for a shock. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a lunatic, but I don’t think I would be able to contain my frustration.

“You have to keep a level of professionalism when you’re in the public eye but it would be hard in the jungle.”

However, it has been reported that producers are willing to splash the cash on the ex-England striker in the hope he will score huge ratings for the ITV reality show.

The former Stoke City, Liverpool, Newcastle and Man United player told the Daily Star Sunday he was considering the offer despite fears he would crack up in the jungle.
