The Chinese live video streaming website yy.com has grown rapidly over the past year with over 70% increase in traffic.

The site is popular with singers who perform to millions from their own home and many make a descent living in the process.

YY started out in 2005 creating Duowan.com, a gaming portal for China’s gamers. In 2008, the company launched YY, a voice-based gaming communications service. But the company has since grown beyond gaming into a much larger social communication platform, added video streaming, and has grown to over 410 million registered users.
