Ratatouille, Cheesecake, mushroom gratin and salmon recipes at the Royal College of Music proves a test for Celebrity MasterChef 2014 Contestants

This week’s remaining celebrities are faced with the challenge of working in a mass catering environment to test their skills to the max.

Adventurer and travel writer Charley Boorman, actor and director Jason Connery and actors Christopher Biggins and Tina Hobley, takes on recipes at the Royal College of Music, catering for 120 hungry staff and students.

However, before they visit the college, there is the small matter of the knowledge and skills test be undertaken at MasterChef HQ.

They must demonstrate their ability to identify a tray of ingredients for judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace – six different types of of sausage. They are then asked to make and cook sausages and onion gravy from scratch in just 20 minutes

Knowledge and skills test over, the celebrities leave the MasterChef kitchen and head out to the Royal College of Music where they are split into teams and must cook with ingredients that includes salmon, beef and a range of fruit and vegetables. The teams must prepare meat-based, vegetarian and dessert dishes in two and a half hours under the watchful eye of head chef Steve Robertson.

On their menu were: Salmon fillets served on a bed of sweet potatoes, peppers, garlic and onions.
Mushrooms and spinach pasta bake.
Beef stir fry with noodles.
Ratatouille with caucus.
Honeycomb cheesecake.
Meringue with cream and berries.
