John Torode and Lisa Faulkner steamed mussels with Cornish cider, bacon and soda bread recipe on John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen

John Torode and Lisa Faulkner served up tasty steamed mussels with Cornish cider, bacon and soda bread on John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen.

The ingredients are: 1kg fresh mussels , A bunch of flat-leaf parsley, roughly chopped , 2 shallots, finely chopped, 100g smoked bacon, finely diced or sliced into lardons , 2 cloves garlic, chopped, Black pepper, 200ml Cornish cider or Cornish white white, 50ml clotted cream and 20g butter.

For the Soda Bread (Makes one good sized loaf or two small ones) : 200g of wholemeal flour, 275g strong white bread flour, plus extra for dusting , 420ml buttermilk, 1 heaped tsp of bicarbonate of soda, 1 tsp of honey and A pinch of salt.
