Paul Hollywood showcased a delicious treacle tart with SU2C lattice pastry topping for today’s technical challenge on The Great Celebrity British Bake Off Stand Up To Cancer.
The ingredients for the pastry are: 300g plain flour, plus extra for rolling out, ½ tsp salt, 1 tsp ground ginger, 150g unsalted butter, chilled and diced, 3-4 tbsp ice cold water.
For the filling: 200g fresh white breadcrumbs, finely grated zest of 1 unwaxed lemon, 1 tsp ground ginger, 350g golden syrup, 3 tbsp double cream and 2 large eggs, lightly beaten.
To decorate: Black, red, orange and yellow food colouring paste and Edible glaze spray.
