John Whaite served up a tasty one pan roast chicken with gnocchi and vegetables on Steph’s Packed Lunch.

The ingredients: 2 fennel bulbs, 2 carrots, peeled, 2 celery sticks, 500g gnocchi, from a packet, 2tsp capers, left whole, Pinch sea salt flakes, Pinch ground black pepper, 1.5kg whole chicken, untrussed, 1-2tbsp olive oil, Pinch salt, 450ml chicken stock, 1-2 tbsp tarragon, chopped and ½ lemon, juiced.

  1. One of the most important instructions on cooking a dish is the temperature…. that wasn’t mentioned on the programme, neither is it included on the information here. Thank you for giving us ingredient measures but it would be lovely if you could include cooking temperatures and timings. Also, does the temperature change when you reduce the time to 45 minutes using chicken thighs? Thanks.
