Phil Vickery served up a tasty Friday night steak and ale pie with mashed potatoes, red cabbage and pickled walnuts on This Morning.
The ingredients for the pastry: 500g shortcrust pastry, shop bought.
For the steak and ale pie filling: 500g cut into 4cm diced chuck steak, leave all fat on, 3-4 tbsp plain flour, 2 tbsp vegetable oil, 1 heaped tbsp tomato puree, 2 small onions, very finely chopped, 2 medium carrots, 1/2cm pieces, 2 x 10g beef stock cubes, crumbled, 3 tbsp Worcester sauce, 200ml light bitter beer, Roughly 300ml of boiling water, Salt and freshly ground black pepper, 500g shortcrust pastry and 1 egg, lightly beaten.
To serve: Mash, Extra gravy , Pickled red cabbage or pickled walnuts.
