It’s the final day of the marathon three day Grand Final on Britain’s Best Bakery and judges Mich Turner and Peter Sidwell have upped the stakes one last time for the remaining three bakeries with the Wedding Cake Challenge.
The bakeries – Angel Share Bakery, The Cake Shop Bakery and Maison Mayci Bakery – are tasked with the challenge of come up with a four tier English rose garden wedding cake that meet the brief of one happy couple Ashley and Andrew.
The bakeries all came up with different solutions to satisfy the brief and after sampling the cakes they produced, Ashley and Andrew chose the cake from The Cake Shop Bakery for their big day.
The judges then had to decide which of the three finalists they would declared as the winner of the competition. In the end they chose The Cake Shop Bakery as the best bakery throughout the competition and declared them as winner and awarded them the title of Britain’s Best Bakery 2014.
To have won Britain’s Best Bakery is quite an achievement for the self-taught brother and sister bakers David and Lindsay, because they had only been running their baker in Woodbridge, Suffolk for 5 months before entering the competition.
