Catherine Fulvio served up a delicious mulled wine tiramisu trifle on The Best Christmas Food Ever.
The ingredients for the mulled berry compote: 1kg frozen mixed berries, 1 orange, zest only, 1 star anise, 1 cinnamon stick, ½ tsp ground nutmeg, ¼ tsp ground cloves, 200g caster sugar, 100ml red wine and 5 tbsp arrowroot.
For the cream layer: 750g mascarpone cheese, 600ml double cream, 75g caster sugar, 1 tbsp vanilla extract, 1 orange, zest only and 6 tbsp Marsala wine (or sherry).
For the biscuit layer: 300g raspberry jam, 75ml Marsala wine (or sherry), 150ml orange juice and 2 x 200g packets Savoiardi sponge biscuits (about 36).
To garnish (optional): crystalised rosemary and fresh cranberries.
