Chef Tom Kitchin came to the Saturday Kitchen today to cook a few of his favourite dishes for the Queen of baking, Mary Berry.

Among his dishes Tom made a delicious artichoke soup.

To make his soup, Tom heat some oil in a saucepan then add onions and cook gently for a few minutes until they have softened.

He adds garlic to the saucepan, stirs and cooked for about a minute.

Tom adds the artichokes, lemon juice and chicken stock and cook for eight minutes or until the artichoke have softened.

He places the mixture into the bowl of a foodprocessor, adds a touch of cream and blends the mixture until smooth. He season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
