Iain Watters hints at a return to The Great British Bake Off on Newsnight

The Great British Bake Off has had a lot of headlines over the past couple of days following the dismissible of contestant Iain Watters by Paul and Mary after he failed to present a bake for the Show Stopper challenge.

However, on Newsnight on BBC2, Iain gave the smallest hint that a return to the show might be on the cards in next week’s episode.

On Wednesday more than 8.5m viewers watched him throw his baked Alaska in the bin after his ice cream melted when it appeared fellow contestant Diana Beard had left it out of the freezer.

Judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood eliminated him from the show, which has since been labelled ‘bingate’.

Speaking on Newsnight, Iain revealed that he did not hold a grudge towards Diana Beard and the pair had spoken earlier in the day.

A Twitter campaign has started calling for ‘Justice For Iain’ and Iain, a site manger in the daytime from Northern Ireland, said viewers will have to watch next week to see if he makes a return to the show.
