Marcus Canty was voted off The X Factor USA last night in one of the most predictable results of the season.
After escaping elimination on three previous occasions, Marcus had polled the lowest amount of public votes again and this time the judges were not able to save him.
Marcus’s exit at this stage means he will miss out on a chance to perform in next week’s grand finale, leaving Melanie Amaro, Chris Rene and Josh Krajcik as America’s first X Factor finalists.
Marcus seemed to accept his fate with grace, though we can’t imagine that it came as a shock to him. On hearing the result, he told Steve Jones:
“It is definitely not over yet.”
Canty added:
“God has blessed me so much during this competition.”
His mentor L.A. Reid insisted that his protegee will do well following the reality TV show and said:
“I think you’re a major star. I know you’ll continue to do great.”
