Glastonbury 2011 festival kicks off this weekend, and with all the amazing acts that will take to the stages of the biggest festival in the word, we have put together a list of the best up and coming acts that must be seen at this year’s event:
The Naked and Famous
The Naked and Famous is a rock band from New Zealand. Their single Young Blood debuted on the New Zealand chart at number one in 2010—the first New Zealand artist in three years to do so. The electro-pop band have been compared to MGMT and The xx. If their debut album ‘Passive Me, Aggressive You’ released in 2010 is anything to go by, they could win an army of new fans at this year’s festival.
The Vaccines
Formed in London 2010, The Vaccines are an UK indie rock band whose debut album, What Did You Expect from the Vaccines? was released in March 2011 and reached number 4 in the UK album charts. On the back of their chart success the band opened for the NME Awards Tour in February. These guys will be around for a very long time.
Tamp Impala
Tame Impala are a four piece rock band from Perth, Western Australia. Their name refers to the impala, a medium sized antelope. Their musical sound draws from a wide range of influences and they like to see themselves as “a steady flowing psychedelic groove rock band that emphasizes dream-like melody.
Tame Impala released an excellent album last year with Innerspeake and the Aussie band will bring their psychedelic-tinged flair to give the Glastonbury crows a real treat.
