The X Factor 2010: Katie Waissel Stayed In But Belle Amie Went Out Of The Competition

Belle Amie

Belle Amie became the sixth act to be voted off the X Factor live finals this year.

They  found themselves in the bottom two alongside Katie Waissel; this was the second time both acts found themselves in this position but this time the vote went to deadlock.

In the sing off , Katie performed ‘Trust In Me’ by Etta James, saying the words described how she felt right now. Belle Amie meanwhile went with Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Breakaway’, saying they were going to fight for their place in the competition.

In our view this was the best performance she has done on the show so far.

First to vote was Simon, saying: “I’m really disappointed that both acts are here tonight. With you Katie, every time you’re in this position you sing better than you do on the main show. But I’m going to stand by my girls, so I’m going to send home Katie.”

Next was Cheryl, who said that both girls did good performances but she was going to send home Belle Amie.

Dannii then commented: “As always I’ll do it based on the sing off and so the act I’m going to send home is Belle Amie.”

This left Louis with the deciding vote, he said: “It’s so hard to sit here and look up at these 5 faces that look so sad, it’s a difficult decision, but the act I’m sending home tonight is Katie.”

As the judges failed to reach a majority verdict, host Dermot O’Leary confirmed that the result was to be decided by the public votes. He then revealed that Belle Amie received the  fewest votes of the 11 acts, and therefore would be leaving the competition.

The result meant that Simon is left with only one act in the competition, and Dermot just had to remind him of that fact on the night. Needless to say, it did not go down too well with Simon.
