Gino Italian caprese cake with chocolate and strawberries recipe on Let’s Do Lunch with Gino and Mel

Its Gino D’acampo’s birthday and the Italian chef makes his own birthday cake on today’s episode of Let’s Do Lunch with Gino and Mel. He makes a delicious looking Italian caprese cake with chocolate and strawberries.

The ingredients are: 100g salted butter, plus extra for greasing, 250g good-quality dark chocolate about 70 per cent cocoa, 4 medium eggs separated, 160g icing sugar and 150g ground almonds.

For the cream: 200ml double cream and 1 tbsp icing sugar seeds from 1 vanilla pod.

For the strawberries: 400g Strawberries, 1 tbsp amaretto liqueur and 1 block dark chocolate to make curls.
