Lukas McFarlane and Tom Hughes-Lloyd made it through to the Got to Dance 2013 live final after securing the public votes on the first live semi-final show.
The pair competed along with Molly and Vitaly, Collective Ent, Dance For Joy and Notorious in the first semi-final to see who would come out on top and get a chance to win the £250,000 cash prize in the final.
14-year-old popper Tom from South Wales, was the first to perform on stage and went on to impressed with his self-taught skills learnt by watching Youtube videos.
“You’re just showing there’s a total different way to be a professional dancer,” commented Aston Merrygold.
Kimberley Wyatt told the youngster : “We’ve been calling this the series of excellence and you’re the perfect example of why.”
A ‘proud’ Ashley Banjo suggested that Tom’s transition from his bedroom to the stage ‘shouldn’t be possible’, adding: “You’ve been a student and you’ve been your own teacher, ironed out all your own mistakes and problems and refined your skills to the point where you’re better than most adults.”
There was no surprise when Tom was awarded a gold star from each judge for his performance.
19-year-old contemporary dancer Lukas – who moved to the UK from Canada to chase his dance dream – blew everyone away with a stunning routine that had the judges and the audience on their feet.
After his performance Kimberly Wyatt told him: “You’re such an honest performer, you’re so technically perfect. It was just incredible.
“I know what it’s like to leave your home, leave your family to go chase your dreams, it’s not easy, it can be lonely, but you’re on the right path. You deserve to be here and your talent is second to none.”
Aston Merrygold said: “Perfect example of dance when it’s done at its best. You’re not a dancer, you’re an artist. You understand the stage, the music.”
“We could be signing you a cheque cause that was unbelievable,” added Ashley Banjo.
Lucas also received three gold stars from the judges for his brilliant performance on the night.
Next week six new acts will take to the stage in the second semi-final to try to book a place in the finals they are: Buckness Personified, Mechanikool, Mini Moves, Momentum, Pulse Collective and Reese.
