Simon Cowell has said he is “thrilled” after US network FOX picked up a second series of the X Factor USA.
The music mogul brought the format to American earlier this year but was dogged with reports of poor ratings and falling advertising revenues ever since the first episode aired.
However, things have begun to improve since the live shows kicked off and it is these live performance specials that are thought to have convinced US TV bosses to give Cowell a second chance.
“I am absolutely thrilled with the news,” said Simon Cowell. “I have loved making the show and I want to thank FOX, our sponsors and most importantly, the fans for supporting The X Factor.”
Mike Darnell, who axed Cheryl Cole from the series in favour of Nicole Scherzinger, added: “The X Factor is a monumental success. It’s won every night it’s been on the air, the talent is phenomenal, the live shows are spectacular and picking it up is a complete no-brainer. Simon and his team have done an incredible job with the show, and I’m absolutely thrilled to bring back The X Factor for another fantastic season.”
