Scotty McCreery has been crowned winner of American Idol 2011 and we are absolutely ecstatic with that result.

The 17 year old in now American Idol very first male country singer and  McCreery is also the 10th winner of American idol beating 16-year-old Lauren Alaina in the final.

The youngsters looked extraordinarily nervous as they awaited the result, then broke out into laughter as Ryan Seacrest received the official results envelope.

More than 122 million votes were cast for the final show of season ten and on hearing the results, the deeply religious teenager  from Garner, North Carolina  exclaimed:

‘I never in my wildest dreams………I’ve got to thank the Lord first… he got me here.’

However, he stayed loyal to his competitor, 16 year old Lauren and added:

‘It’s been a year since Lauren and I tried out now.

‘Me and her have been together since day one and we are going to stay together.’

On results night their were performances from Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez. Gaga performer her new single ‘The Edge of Glory’, Beyonce attacked her new single ‘One Plus One Plus One’, TLC performed some of their classic hits with help from Lil Jon and the Top 13 girls.

Marc Anthony, J-Lo’s husband performed his latest single ‘Aguanile’, featuring an appearance by wife and U2′s Bono and The Edge performed with the cast cast of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark on a rendition of ‘Rise Above The Dark’ from the Broadway show.
