28-year-old Estate Manager Alex Britez Cabral has become the second candidate to be fired by Lord Sugar in tonight’s second episode of The Apprentice 2011.
In the second task the two teams had to create and pitch a new mobile app to top bloggers as well as putting it up on the market for download from across the world.
For the boys’ Logic team, Leon took charge and created the SlangATang app, which provided a range of insults and sound bites in various accents from around the UK.
Meanwhile for the girls, Edna took the lead of team Venture and created AmpiAmps, a sound board which included ‘annoying’, ‘animals’ and ‘celebration’ noises.
After 24 hours and despite failing two of their pitches the girls’ AmpiApps app was downloaded more than 10,000 times compared to the boys’ app which was downloaded just under 4,000 times.
Having failed the task, Leon brought back Alex and Glenn to face Lord sugar in the boardroom.
Lord Sugar told the trio: “Leon, you took charge but you failed to make decisions. However, what’s saving you this week is that you’ve run a business before and have the experience.”

“Glenn, you’re a technical man, and it’s rare to find a good tech man who is also good business man. I’m just not sure if you’re that man.”
“Alex, you’re a good talker, but I’m not here to start a business in writing speeches,” Lord Sugar continued. “You already have this reputation that you don’t do anything, this is not a job, it’s going to be a partnership. I’m not going to do all the work… Alex, you’re fired.” Speaking after being shown the door by Lord Sugar, Alex admitted to being “disappointed” saying: “Leon should’ve gone, he couldn’t even make a decision on who to bring back from the boardroom.” |
