John Whaite served up a delicious lemon drizzle showstopper cake on Lorraine.
The ingredients for the cake: 225g unsalted butter, 225g caster sugar, Zest of 1 lemon, 4 large eggs and 225g self-raising flour.
For the drizzle: Juice of 2 lemons, 100g caster sugar and 50ml water.
For the filling: 350g unsalted butter, 500g icing sugar, plus extra to dust, Zest of 2 lemons, 3 tbsp lemon juice and 400g lemon curd.
For the candied lemon (optional): 2 lemons, 600ml water (in 200ml batches), 100g caster sugar, 100ml water and 75g caster sugar, to coat.
