James Martin prune and Armagnac tart recipe on Home Comforts at Christmas

James Martin served up a delicious prune and Armagnac tart with cream for the festive season on Home Comforts at Christmas.

James says: “If there is such a thing as Christmas on a plate, this dessert would be it.”

The ingredients for the pastry are: 100g chilled butter, diced, plus extra for greasing, 275g plain flour, plus extra for dusting, 100g icing sugar and 2 free-range eggs.

For the filling: 500g prunes, stones removed, 200ml Armagnac, 200g caster sugar, 100g butter, softened, 2 free-range eggs, plus 1 free-range egg yolk,50g self-raising flour, 125g ground almonds, 25g whole blanched almonds, 300ml double cream and 2 tbsp icing sugar.
