Si and Dave served up a tasty moussaka made with potatoes and a basic white sauce on Saturday Kitchen.
The Bikers says: “A good moussaka is a joy to behold with cinnamon spiced lamb mingling with aubergines and a delicious creamy sauce.”
The ingredients are 2 aubergines, cut into 1cm slices, 1 tbsp fine sea salt, 750g lamb mince, 1 onion, finely chopped, 2 garlic cloves, crushed, 1 tsp dried oregano, 1½ tsp dried mint, 2 bay leaves, 1 cinnamon stick, 1 tbsp plain flour, ½ tsp flaked sea salt, plus extra for seasoning, 200ml red wine, 1 x 400g can chopped tomatoes, 2 tbsp tomato purée, 7 tbsp olive oil, 500g Maris Piper potatoes, peeled, sliced into 1cm slices and sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.
For the white sauce: 50g butter, 50g plain flour, 400ml milk, 1 tsp finely grated nutmeg, 25g finely grated parmesan and 1 free-range egg, beaten.
