Nigel Slater serves up a tasty mussels and cider dish on Nigel Slater’s New Year Suppers.
Nigel says: “Steamed mussels and cider are a perfect flavour combination – and ethical and economical to boot.”
The ingredients, glug of olive oil, a medium-sized onion, peeled and chopped, a fresh bay leaf, ½ teaspoon whole black peppercorns, roughly crushed, 2 cloves of garlic, whole, unpeeled, 1 x 500g bag of mussels, 250ml medium or dry cider and crusty bread, to serve.
