Melissa and Jasmine Hemsley makes a gluten free apple noodle strudel with toasted almonds on Saturday Kitchen.
The sisters says: “This nutty apple tart is as easy as pie – and the ginger and cinnamon spices give it a Christmassy aroma.”
The ingredients for the almond shortcrust pastry are: 200g ground almonds, ¼ tsp salt, ¼ tsp bicarbonate of soda, ¾ tbsp maple syrup and 15g butter, softened and 1 free-range egg.
For the filling: 2 eating apples, peeled, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 35g raisins, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 2 tsp maple syrup,10g cold butter, diced and 50g almond flakes.
For the ginger crème fraîche: 400g/14oz full-fat crème fraîche and 2cm piece fresh root ginger, peeled and finely grated.
