Mary Berry makes a delicious winter crumble tart with blackberries and apples for the festive season on Mary Berry’s Absolute Christmas Favourites.
Mary says: “This delicious dessert is the perfect combination of tart and crumble filled to the brim with juicy apples and blackberries. Serve it with cream and the fruit juices.”
The ingredients for the pastry: 225g plain flour, plus extra for dusting, 125g chilled butter, cut into cubes and 30g caster sugar and 1 large free-range egg, beaten.
For the filling: 4 large Bramley apples, peeled, cored and cut into small chunks, 150g caster sugar and 275g fresh blackberries.
For the crumble topping: 175g plain flour, 100g butter, at room temperature, cut into cubes, 50g rolled oats, 100g demerara sugar, 50g hazelnuts, roasted and chopped and custard or double cream, to serve.
