Mary Berry nutcracker coffee cake recipe on A Mary Berry Christmas

Mary Berry served up a delicious nutcracker coffee cake with Amaretto liqueur, walnut and flaked almonds on A Mary Berry Christmas.

The ingredients for the sponge are: 225g self-raising flour, 4 large free-range eggs, 225g baking spread, straight from the fridge, 225g caster sugar, 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tbsp strong coffee granules, dissolved 2 tbsp boiling water, 50g walnuts, chopped and 2 tbsp amaretto liqueur or brandy.

For the buttercream: 225g unsalted butter, softened, 350g icing sugar, 2 tbsp strong coffee granules, dissolved 2 tbsp boiling water and 2 tbsp Amaretto.

For the topping: 50g flaked almonds, 50g walnuts pieces or halves and 3 tbsp icing sugar.
