Poppy O’Toole (The Potato Queen), showed how to make the ultimate mashed potatoes – classic mashed potatoes, cheesy mash with bacon lardons and a honey and mustard mash – in a potato masterclass on This Morning.
The ingredients for the classic mash are: 4 Maris pipers (potatoes), 2 tbsp salt, 75g salted butter and 50ml milk.
1 tbsp melted butter (optional)
For the honey mustard mash: 2-3 Maris pipers (potatoes), 1 tbsp whole grain mustard (for the potatoes), 80g cheddar cheese, finely grated (plus 50g for topping), 50 ml double cream, 20g cubed butter, 1 tbsp runny honey (for the dressing) and 1 tsp whole grain mustard (for the dressing).
For the cheesy bacon mash: 2-3 Maris piper potatoes, peeled and cut into 1cm thick slices, 80g cheddar cheese, grated, 80g double Gloucester, grated, 1 ball of mozzarella, grated, 200g unsmoked bacon lardons, cooked, 2 tbsp butter, 3 tbsp sour cream, Salt and pepper.
