Brandy Snap Recipe and Royal Mail Sorting office task test the celebs on Celebrity Masterchef 2014

It’s the second episode of celebrity Masterchef 2014 and the remaining celebrities – Jodie Kidd, Sophie Thompson, Russell Grant and Susannah Constantine – face three more challenges that will put their cooking skills to the test once again.

Earlier this week the competition saw actor Todd Carty fall by the wayside after failing to impress the judges on the first three tasks.

Today’s first challenge for the remaining celebs is a knowledge and skills test. They must demonstrate their ability to identify a tray of ingredients, four types of biscuit and four creams, before being asked to make a filled brandy snap from scratch in just 15 minutes.

For the second task the celebrities are paired into teams and sent out on their first mass catering challenge. They must provide lunch for over 100 members of staff at the London Central Mail Centre, Royal Mail’s largest sorting office.

With an array of ingredients including chicken breast, diced beef, kidneys and a range of fruit and vegetables the two teams must devise, prepare and serve the lunch catering for various tastes while creating meat-based, vegetarian and dessert dishes in volume.

The third and final task sees the celebs return to MasterChef kitchen to cook a faultless two-course meal that will not only be judged by John and Gregg but also past Celebrity MasterChef champions, author Emma Kennedy and former England rugby captain Phil Vickery, and previous finalist Andi Peters, who know exactly what standards they expect.

Jodie Kidd, Sophie Thompson, Russell Grant and Susannah Constantine have to give it their best effort, if they are to book their place in the semi-finals.
